Operations are managed on a per
root cluster basis. The following represents the advised initial
best practices that will be reviewed by the NSMs
upon the requirements and the results of the engaged projects.
The dot-root Secretariat keeps
a log of all the reported events at the E-mail address:
- log@dot-root.com - this system
will test various systems of origin validation.
- a copy of this log may be implemented
to provide global supervision. Such supervision will act as a
service, and may be replicated by each root system.
- the Name Servers are under permanent
third party remote alarm control.
- alarms are reported to the supervisory
log.
- different reboot solutions will
be tested.
- different machine mutual authentication
solutions will be experimented with.
Every Day
- the data from the TLD Managers
and other roots are collected.
- the bind and djbdns roots files
are generated as well as the forwards ISP files.
- the discrepancies are reported
to the supervisory log and to the other root administrators.
- upon decision of the root manager
the root file may be rebuilt after new data collection.
- the root file is loaded on the
cluster master machine.
- the root file is loaded on the
ftp public access site.
- the TLD database is loaded on
the ftp public access site.
- the DNS configuration of the
test ULDs are updated, rebuilt and reloaded.
- the previous day(s) log files
will be unloaded.
Control
Third party control is provided
by Members of the Monotoring Committee.
